Arsene Wenger has revealed he is happy with the team’s performance against Sunderland at the Stadium of light on Saturday.

Arsenal dispatched David Moyes men 4-1 and Wenger has revealed he is happy with the performance. The game could have taken a different turn when Sunderland made it 1-1 from the penalty spot but the players reacted well to being pegged back.

The manager believes our reaction was a sign that we have improved as a squad.

Wenger said he feared Sunderland’s equalizer would destabilize the team and he has hailed the fighting spirit we showed to overcome the set back.

“It was a mental test when we were at 1-1,” Wenger said. “We missed so many chances, so many opportunities and I was worried we could lose, but we have shown great strength to bounce back.

“In the Premier League, at 1-1, you can lose the game but it was how we respond.

“Do we panic, give up, feel sorry for ourselves? We Responded well and in the end it was a comfortable win.”

It was indeed a mental test and it shows how well we have developed over the summer. If it were Arsenal of last season we could have struggled to regain the lead but in this occasion, we didn’t panic, we continued playing our game and finished in emphatic fashion.

This should send a message to our title rivals and cause those who still think we might fall aside as we go further into the season to worry as it’s looking like we are getting better with each game. COYG!!!
