Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has hailed our squad depth in the wake of our Champions League 6-0 win over Ludogorets.
Wenger made a host of changes to his regular starting xi on Wednesday night but the team was impressive and didn’t show any sign of weakness.
The players who were brought into the starting xi did well and showed they deserve to be playing more regularly. Kieran Gibbs and Oxlade Chamberlain was drafted into the starting xi, they didn’t disappoint as they had a great game with the latter crowning his efforts with a well taken goal.
Iwobi who made way for Chamberlain in the starting xi has now admitted he must continue to work hard in order not to lose his place in the starting xi.
“There’s a lot of talent in this team, and whenever I’m given a chance I’m just giving my best, giving 100 per cent,” Iwobi said.
“As you can see, I didn’t start today and to be able to do well I just need to make sure I’m on top of my game.
“I’m happy for Chambo, he got his chance and Kieran got his chance as well and they did well.
“It just shows how much strength in depth, we have.”
One can attribute our failure to win the league title over the years to our lack of quality in our squad depth.
It was good to see Wenger address that in the summer transfer window, spending up to £90m on new players who came in to strengthen us in the summer and that has increased our chances of challenging for titles this year.
