Arsenal are interested in signing former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato from Corinthians, according to reports.
The Gunners are keen to sign the striker ahead of fellow Premier league clubs Tottenham and Liverpool.
Corinthians recently claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool already had a deal in place to sign the striker but the Metro reports that Arsenal have joined the race to sign the striker when the transfer window opens in January.
The striker, now 26, is reportedly keen on a move to Europe, he moved back to Brazil after an injury troubled spell at AC Milan. When quizzed about his return to Europe the 26 year old was quoted as saying
“I do not know, I hope soon.” (Via the Daily Star)
Pato was one of the most sought after striker in Europe during his early days at AC Milan, but a combination of poor form and injury crisis in the final days of his Milan career saw him moved back to his homeland in 2013.
Corinthians president recently stated that Pato will be heading back to Europe with the Merseyside his destination:
“There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks.
Tottenham has been linked with a move for the striker since last summer but Arsenal will be desperate to sign the striker ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham.
The player however confirmed that Manchester United tried to sign him on the last day of the transfer window. Its obvious that a move to the premier league is on the cards for the 26 year old.
