Arsenal Transfer News: Ligue 1 Side AGREE €20M Fee, Nir Bitton Keen On Move

There hasn’t been much news from Arsenal since they added Chelsea keeper Petr Cech to the roster last summer.

Most fans have been very happy with the move, and feel that with Cech at the back, Arsenal can finally be a serious contender for the trophy again. But then again there are others who have questioned the move, considering Cech’s age.

Would the young Asmir Begovic have been a better choice? Chelsea snapped up the former Stoke goalie soon after Cech left for a cool £8 million. At any rate no one can doubt Cech’s abilities and he is considered by many to be the best goalkeeper in the world. Will he be the missing link for an Arsenal team that is looking to provide serious competition to Europe’s best clubs? We will find out soon enough.

The next player in Arsenal’s transfer window could be mercurial forward Olivier Giroud. He might be leaving Arsenal soon, if Wenger secures the signing of another striker in the winter.

Giroud is a player who has a divided opinion among Arsenal fans. It is true that he has had some brilliant moments, but many feel that they are few and far in between. While others still swear by his abilities and will be sorry to see him go.

There has also been unconfirmed news that Wenger is making a bid for Monaco’s brilliant holding midfielder, Joao Moutinho. If true, then this is definitely great news for Arsenal fans, many of whom felt that a good holding midfielder was the biggest concern for Arsenal last season. And we all know that Moutinho is more than just a ‘good’ midfielder.

The French team has agreed to sell him for €20 million. It remains to be seen if Wenger will take the bid seriously enough. But we can definitely hope. Other Candidates for the job include Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho and Celtic’s Nir Bitton. Both have shown an interest in the club though Wenger has kept mum about it so far.

Arsenal has looked in good touch this season and recent demolition of Manchester United and Watford was just case in point. This has pushed up the odds for an Arsenal victory in their upcoming fixtures in the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich, and an Arsenal victory does seem to be on the cards.
