Arsenal’s chances of signing Julian Draxler has been handed a huge boost after Schalke reduced his asking price to £21million.
Draxler, 21 could now be the subject of an eleventh hour bid from Arsenal, with Wenger’s knack of pulling off big deals towards the end of the transfer window.
The Frenchman supported the speculations when he talked about the possibility of a deadline day transfer, after revealing that he and his team are working round the clock to bring in new players.
Coincidentally or incidentally - if Wenger has been doing background talks, Schalke has reduced their asking price, paving the way for Arsenal to make a cut price move for the attacking midfielder.
There are reports that the asking price was reduced due to the German international’s persistent injury problems.
Arsenal will be up against Juventus for his signature, with the Turin club having already had a bid rejected by Schalke earlier this summer; though Arsenal have the upper hand with the player preferring a move to England.
It remains to be seen if Draxler is the mystery player Arsenal has been working round the clock for.
