Arsenal are confident of completing the signing of Karim Benzema with reports according to Daily Star claiming the Gunners have spent the last few days working on a deal to bring the Real Madrid striker to the Emirates as soon as possible.
Benzema is said to be Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer as manager Arsene Wenger seeks to add a World class striker to complete his squad this season.
Wenger has already moved to deny the reports when he said he isn’t interested in the Real Madrid man in a press conference. “I never came out on Benzema, it’s just media talk.”
But his comment about wanting to add a new player with the striking position the most obvious need in the squad has fueled speculations. “I’m happy with the squad, if someone turns up then we can still do it.”
Reports now have it that the Gunners are close to sealing a deal for the striker who is valued at over £35million, with Madrid also reported to be willing to sell the forward who won’t fit into Rafael Benitez plans this season.
Arsenal are believed to be denying the deal just to keep up the good relationship they have with Madrid which had seen Ozil swap the Capital club for the Emirates in the past.
