Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid’s Russian winger Dennis Cheryshev has been given a huge boost, with Madrid willing to let the winger leave, according to reports.
The 24-year-old who spent last season on loan at Villarreal has attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe with his outstanding performances.
Reports from Spain per the Metro say that Real Madrid are willing to sell the Russian international – who rose up the youth ranks at Madrid, for £14.9million this summer.
With Jack Wilshere sidelined with another injury to his ankle and Theo Walcott now being moved into the centre forward position, the need for another winger/midfielder has risen at the Emirates. And on the basis of his performances and experience, Cheryshev would be a good option, with Wenger being a longtime admirer.
However, Premier League rival Liverpool have also been heavily linked with Cheryshev, prompting a possible transfer battle between the two clubs.
But with Liverpool missing out on Champions League football this season, the Gunners look the favourites to land the winger.
