Arsene Wenger is anxiously looking ahead of the January transfer window to beef up his already depleted squad by sending scouts to watch a highly rated rugged central defender by the name Armando Izzo, who currently ply his trade with Genoa in Italian Serie A.
Arsene Wenger is looking for a central defender who can replace the lanky Per Mertesacker in the near future, and Armando Izzo is believed to be a capable choice. Most pundits are of the opinion that Mertesacker is ageing and his recovery rate when chasing opponents is slow as compared to other defenders in the team like Koscielny, Bellerin, Monreal etc, and so needs a replacement.
Armando is 23 year old rugged central defender who wears jersey number 5 at Genoa. He started is playing career as a youth with Napoli in the Serie A.
