Napoli’s Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain has reportedly asked for an exit from the club, putting Arsenal on alert.
This report is according to the Express who claim Arsenal are closely monitoring Higuain’s current situation at Napoli with an intent to swoop in for the striker this summer.
The 27-year-old Argentine international who has been a long-time target for Arsenal, has also attracted interest from several other top clubs in the Premier League including Manchester United and Chelsea.
And despite interests from other clubs for Higuain’s signature, Napoli are reluctant to sell their prized asset with the Serie A outfit demanding the striker’s £66million release clause be met before any move can be sanctioned.
The report also says that Higuain has made his intention to leave Napoli known, as he is unhappy with life at the club.
Napoli’s missing out on Champions League football this season, among a few other reasons are said to have prompted Higuain’s desire to leave Naples this summer.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a top quality striker after their abysmal showing against West Ham last weekend, and with Higuain actively pushing for a move, his price will be dropped substantially.
