Arsenal hopes on signing in-demand striker Alexandre Lacazette have been dealt a major blow with reports of the player’s decision to remain in the Ligue 1 next season.

According to the Metro, Olympique Lyonnais boss Hubert Fournier made this claim while speaking to the media ahead of the Emirates Cup which took place last weekend.

When asked where he saw Lacazette playing this season, Fournier said: ‘Olympique Lyonnais.

‘I haven’t got much to say. He has said he wants to stay with us.

‘Of course some clubs are going to be attracted to the sort of player he is but he is under contract at Lyon and with all of the different competitions we have this season with the Champions League and the domestic French cups, we obviously want to keep him at the club.’

Lacazette, 24, was top scorer in the French Ligue 1 last season with 27 goals, helping hide to a second placed finish behind PSG.

The French international has since been subject of a transfer away from the Lyon, with several top clubs across Europe vying for his signature this summer – including Arsenal and Liverpool.
