Arsene Wenger’s side took on Singapore’s Select XI in the Barclays Asia Trophy today, and two Arsenal stars Chuba Apkom and Jack Wilshere found the back of the net, with the former going on to clinch a hat-trick on the day.
The match ended 4-0 in favour of Wenger’s side, with the team – comprising of a mix of Arsenal’s first team and reserves, putting up a decent performance.
19-year-old Akpom found the back of the net from close range in the first half, smashing home a Jack Wilshere loose ball.
One thing worthy of note however, is the youngster’s alertness to quickly drive the loose ball pass the opponent’s goalkeeper.
Wilshere in the second half doubled our lead from the spot, after Mathieu Debuchy was brought down in the box.
Apkom eventually got a hat-trick, and will be proud as he looks to impress Wenger in a bid to force his way into the boss’s plans next season.
