Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin with the view of completing a deal before leaving for their four-match United States tour next week, according to the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old has been a subject of transfer speculations following interests from top Premier League sides including Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
The Daily Mail also claim that the Red Devils have already had a £20million bid rejected earlier, with Saints boss Ronald Koeman quoted saying.
“Two weeks ago we had a bid from Manchester united” Koeman said.
“It wasn’t enough, it wasn’t serious.” He added.
Southampton are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £30million, but Manchester United see £25m as a good price for the central midfielder; though it’s looking likely that a deal would be completed in the coming days.
Koeman is resigned to losing the player who is believed to have an agreement with the club to leave if a Champions League team comes in for him.
“But I hope if there is any business that it’s soon, because that’s best for the player and for us. We have to prepare for what we’ll have to do if we sell the player”.
With Arsenal’s interest diverted to Arturo Vidal and William Carvalho, and Tottenham’s absence from the Champions League, Manchester United is almost certainly the destination for the 25-year-old Frenchman.
