Danny Welbeck has been ruled out of Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Singapore after suffering a setback from the knee injury that ruled him out of the final weeks of last season.
The striker had undergone treatment at the club’s London Colney headquarters in a bid to be fit for pre-season, but it appears he is destined for a little more time with the physios following the latest setback.
The England forward is expected to now miss next week’s tour of Singapore, but it is hoped he will be available for the Emirates Cup later this month.
With this latest setback, Welbeck is facing a race against time to be fit for the season opener against West Ham on August 9.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal last season from rivals Manchester United and scored the goal that eliminated the Old Trafford side from the FA Cup in the quarter final en-route winning the FA Cup with the Gunners.
